The Châssis terroir

The Plateau des Châssis is one of the most emblematic terroirs of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, located on the left bank of the Rhône between the communes of Mercurol, Pont-de-l'Isère and La Roche-de-Glun. This vast alluvial terrace, formed during the Ice Ages, is characterized by soils composed of rolled pebbles mixed with red clay, sometimes enriched with sands and silts. These deep, well-drained soils favor optimal ripening of the grapes, especially Syrah, the region's king grape variety.

The climate of the Châssis plateau is marked by alternating hot days and cool nights, under the influence of the Mistral wind, which naturally purifies the vines. These climatic conditions, combined with the nature of the soils, give the wines produced on this plateau a fruity expression, an elegant structure and a beautiful freshness.

AOP Crozes-Hermitage

Created in 1937, AOP Crozes-Hermitage is the largest appellation in the northern Rhône Valley. It extends over a mosaic of terroirs, with a diversity of soils and exposures that allow for varied expressions of Syrah, its emblematic grape variety.
The commune of La Roche-de-Glun joined the AOP in 1952.

At Domaine du Chêne Vert, we cultivate Syrah, Marsanne and Roussanne in keeping with this tradition, while adding our own contemporary vision. Our reds are deep and balanced, with ripe tannins and natural freshness. Our whites, rare and confidential, offer beautiful tension and floral and mineral complexity. With each cuvée, we seek to reveal the finesse and authenticity of our terroir, in the spirit of the great Crozes-Hermitage wines.
